This postcard was posted on PostSecret (a project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard).
It makes me sad.
It’s sad how rampant the institutions of white supremacy are – how folks of color have internalized it and wish that they were white.
Even in India, the “white is beautiful” ideology is ubiquitous. [...]

“Dude, my computer’s busted, can you fix it?”
“Hey, do you know why my computer won’t boot up?”
“I keep getting this error message, what’s the deal?”
Sound familiar? Check out this great post: “No, I can’t fix your computer!”

Still having trouble getting the message across? Just wear the t-shirt!

the dentist…

27Sep06

I went to the dentist last week for the first time in I-don’t-know-how-many years!
The result: meh – not so good. I have lots of cavities, one of which will probably eventually need a root canal!
And it gets even worse. When I was in first grade, I flew off my bike (that’s a longer [...]

Are you addicted to email? After reading this blog posting about why and what to do about it, I realized that I clearly am. Well, I knew I had a problem before reading it, but this first paragraph sums me up perfectly.

3 ounces…

SFA is a network of youth organizing in solidarity with farmworkers to eliminate sweatshop conditions and modern-day slavery in the fields. They are part of the Alliance for Fair Food, led by [...]

In Southwest Florida, there are all of these “Panther X-ing” signs along the highway. I would have gotten out of the car and taken a picture of one, but I was too afraid that a panther would attack me. (I stole this picture off of flickr.) Actually, there are probably about [...]

After about 8pm, everything in Immokalee shuts down. That doesn’t leave much for us to do at the Immokalee Inn except be entranced by the hotel tube. Becky, Hevily, and I have quickly become addicted to the numerous episodes of Law and Order that were on. It’s been a nightly thing.
The [...]

The day after President Bush gave his speech encouraging the people of the world to rise up in support of the Empire of the United States, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez put him back in his place with an incredible fiery speech yesterday.
And the devil came here yesterday. Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. [crosses [...]

It’s fundraiser season – that time of year when every non-profit that’s anybody holds their annual fundraiser. For sake of transparency, I’m not a big fan. Anyway, I attended the first one for this year last night – it was the ForestEthics fundraiser at the Supperclub in San Francisco. It [...]
